Thankful for Friends

The calligraphy practice has helped me improve on what little calligraphy I did, but I was getting very stressed about getting actual scrolls done.  In steps the friend that does the occasional scroll and happens to be in the studio below us.  He stepped up to the plate and created some nice scrolls for what I need them for.  Nothing elaborate, just simple in design (not that it isn't hard work) and beautiful.  No finished pictures until after they are given out.

I tried painting today too, so that I might be able to do something for these scrolls.  Unfortunately, none of these skills come naturally to me and I must practice if I want to do anything at all.  In the end, I am super happy that I at least tried.  Other happy things from today:

  • The two bands that I finished weaving are off the loom and the ends are stitched so they hopefully don't unravel.  Keziah got the three that my friend wove today and they are in the van.  That leaves three that still need to be woven that won't get done until after the event.

  • In the early afternoon tomorrow we leave for the event.  I somehow have managed to pack most of my stuff up already.  I just have a few little things to put in a bag and I will be ready.
  • My Google storage has been warning me that it is close to full for a week or so.  I remembered to back up photos from the spring and delete them from Google so I will have room to take pictures this weekend.  Some of the pictures are from when I did a 100 day arts and sciences challenge.  There were pictures of embroidery and hats I tried to make.  Something I realized is that I feel altogether happier when I have some kind of art or craft to work on and make myself do it.  Gardening was important too and I have let that slide.  Maybe I should start a list of things for a mental health routine...
  • Have I shared a picture of the new mural that the art school had painted?  It makes me happy to see it whenever I drive by.

Thank you for being part of my happy and thankful things. Stay safe.
