Pennsic Day 13

Image
Every Pennsic I say that I will take more pictures.  I've taken more than some previous, but I have ended a day this time wishing I had pulled the camera on my phone out earlier.  I got my phone out for pictures of a brief field court but didn't for the Heavy List Baronial Champions.  I took pictures of the Baronial Thrown Weapons Champions but not the little bit of the Baronial Fencing Champions that I saw.  A little before dark I remembered to have Keziah take a picture of me in the garb I started making months ago.  The Viking dress is complete, not the chemise.  I wore an older one for today.   Here are some happy things from today: --All the Baronial Championships I attended today were good.  Watching the different Champions from other Baronies compete against each other and give us insight of their thoughts on being a champion as well as Chivalry is enlightening.  It is one of the things that helps remind me of what we ...

Pennsic Day 7

Our camp is close to a small castle.  It is one of the many things that lends to the atmosphere here at Pennsic.   Other happy things from today: --There is a new group camping with us.  Many of them have a Viking persona.  They brought a flag that I let them hang by our gate. --The flags waving in the breeze looked really nice today. --Sewing got pulled out this evening.  A friend hemmed my new chemise while I worked on finishing some seams on my green Viking dress.   ☮️ Thank you for being part of my happy things.  Stay safe.

Walking through the backyard, it still smells like lilacs.  They are such a short-lived flower.  Other things that made me happy today: This morning started with an appointment for my yearly mammogram.  It is something that I avoided while the pandemic was more severe.  So I am happy that I got it done.  I am also very pleased with the person who took did the imaging.  She started off happy and joking around, made good small talk and we laughed. It was a studio day and I worked on the new Viking dress some more.  It needs straps and to be hemmed.  It doesn't look like much in the following picture, but it is so close to being complete. The lily-of-the-valleys are blooming! ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Currently listening to: Seven Surrenders , by Ada Palmer Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.

Friday the Thirteenth

Image
Keziah and I had plans today. I chose to wake up a little earlier to get some of the little daily things I like to do out of the way. Things like Duo Lingo and reading. Of note I am pleased to say that I finished reading The Middle Ages - A Graphic History. The end of the book and how they sorted through when the Middle Ages ended was my favorite part. Other happy things for today: We pruned the peach tree, Marjorie. Ýes, Keziah named the tree. I don't remember when the best time to prune fruit trees is, but Marjorie needed it so when we had time was the right time.   With patterning help from Keziah I almost finished making a Viking apron dress. It just needs to be hemmed and the straps need to be made.  No pictures until it is ready. The day was hot. After sunset I took a walk. The air felt just a little bit fresher, I knew when I walked near lilacs by the sweet smell, the moon lit the way, and the music of frogs and a whippoorwill serenaded me. The camera...
