Lazy Saturday

Image
After I had mowed some of the lawn, done some dishes, and started some of the more intensive unpacking task, Gideon said he wanted to have a lazy Saturday.  Sometimes the young ones have the best ideas. I was hoping for a little Geocaching with him but he wanted the lazy day.  Instead, he played games or watched videos on his phone and I did dishes, unpacked, and had some lazy time while Keziah and Zed went out.  There is something to be said for lazy days, especially when it is hot out.  Other happy things from today: -- The mowing happened in the late morning.  After I came in, hot and sweaty, I went up to Keziah's room to talk with her.  Opening her door and stepping into her air conditioned room was refreshing.  It felt so good I forgot what I wanted to talk with her about.  -- My lazy activities today were reading, watching some Netflix, and taking a nap.  -- We made rootbeer floats for dessert.   -- Gideon wasn't interested in...

Leaving for work I was struck by the beauty of the almost full moon.  Seeing the night sky is one of the benefits of working nights.  There isn't time to study it, but there is to appreciate it.  Other happy things from today: When I got home from work Bel was asleep in the living room. I decided to follow their example and napped for a short while in my room.  Naps are good. There was a gentle breeze today that was just enough to push the heat away, especially when in the shade. It made my short afternoon walk pleasant when it blew. The first geranium that bloomed had seeds so I picked them. I probably should have done some research first but it is done.  I'm hoping it will bloom again. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Bardic by the Fire

Somedays the good things are not part of the plan.  This morning Keziah and I weren't planning to go to the storage unit, but we did. We decided that it would make more sense to drive to return the thrones to the storage unit rather than unpack and repacking them for later.  We didn’t want to do it,  but it felt good to have it done.  Here are some other happy things from today: --This morning I weeded in the triangle part of the driiveway and identified a new plant. Hare's-foot  clover is a plant I have often seen but not identified.  I haven't decided if this is a plant I am going to keep in the garden or not. It has some good points, like being a nitrogen fixer.  If I don't let it completely take over the other plants it could work where it is. Still, I'm  happy to have identified this plant with a fun name! --Part of today's plan was to be Keziah's designated driver to Bardic circle tonight. For this to happen I had to take a nap. I know I've ...

May is almost over and I feel like I should have done more or something. The month seems to have flown by. Every day I look for things to be happy about. Today that included pushing myself to make phone calls that I didn't want to make. This was a small step that I need to follow-up with later, but the first step is behind me and that is good. My other happy things for today are more normal: I took a nap. I don't tend to sleep much on Thursdays and it means I'm tired on Fridays. I need to work on this by napping more on Thursdays, but the nap was good. I mowed some of the lawn. We have six or seven areas to mow and it is harder for me to keep up with it lately, even with Gideon's help. Whenever parts feel done, it is a good thing. Earlier this week I wrote about getting a Bluetooth speaker that I can wear on my wrist. It worked perfectly while mowing. I could hear the music over the sound of the mower and groove to a beat while I pushed. There is a plant ...

May the Fifth

Happy Cinco de Mayo.  At work there was a small table with tortilla chips, salsa, cheese, and things to celebrate this Mexican holiday.  I didn't partake because buffets and the pandemic still kind of freak me out. I'm happy that they did something for this day. Other happy things for today: After work today I took a nap. I’m not working tonight so I didn’t need a long sleep. I didn’t set an alarm and didn’t sleep for very long. It must have been enough though because I went out after and mowed the lawn up by the garden. In the garden  the cherry tree and peach tree have blossoms. The rhubarb that I transplanted last year has come up. Unless it suddenly becomes more abundant, I will most likely leave it alone until next year. I’m happy that it is still alive. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Tournament

Walking outside to go to the mailbox this afternoon I pleasantly inhaled the smell of rain. It hadn't started yet but the fragrance and the pressure change between the inside world and outside world were grounding for me. It was energizing and calming somehow at the same time.  Other happy things: Naps. Working overnight and then wanting to do things in the evening when I can, makes having naps important.  I'm happier when I have had some sleep. There was a small SCA tournament tonight hosted by a local SCA knight. It was fun to watch. As Baroness I keep trying to find ways to be more involved with the fighting without actually fighting.  Right now that mostly means being a presence in the community. For day 88 of the A&S challenge I was looking for something different to embroider and Keziah handed me a pin to use as a model.  I've pulled out parts to redo a few times and I still don't have it right.  ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer...
