Crown

Today was the Crown Tournament for the East Kingdom. This is where there are rattan fights to determine the next Royalty for the East. My happy things for today start with carpooling. I was able to ride along with someone else to the SCA event. This meant company during the drive to Maine and that I wasn't the one driving. It was great to get to know the lady who drove better. She is one of many nice people in my Barony. From my viewer standpoint, Crown Tournament seemed to go well. Unfortunately, none of the fantastic fighters who originate from my Barony won the day. I am pleased with the winner, though. They have been Royals three times before and have done so well in the past.  The event made the local news . During the court that was held many people were given awards they earned. I was especially pleased when a friend that has always been helpful to me and Stonemarche when needed received their award for service to the Kingdom.   ☮ Currently reading: Pocket...

Not Just About Food

Keziah and I ended our day at a nice Mexican restaurant called Las Palapas.  It is near the hotel we are staying at tonight.  As the temperatures dropped this afternoon I was again happy that we chose to pay for a room rather than sleep in a tent.  Other happy things from today: –I have been told a few times that I need to eat at Tim Horton's.  We got breakfast there today and it was good.  They had a maple cream doughnut that was yummy.  –At the event I decided to participate in the archery woods walk.  They set up animal targets along a trail in the woods for people to shoot arrows at and hopefully hit.  My score wasn't the greatest, but I didn't lose any arrows and had a lot of fun.  –During court, there was an investiture.  One set of Baron and Baroness stepped down, and another stepped up.  In another two years or so that will be Keziah and I.  It turns out that the new Baroness and I shot alongside each other during the a...

Sleep

Thursdays are long, even with a nap in the middle of the day.  Although, I have to wonder if a person dreams about work, does it still count as being asleep?  I know I should sleep more, but there are always things to do. Here are some things from today that made me happy : This evening we watched Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , an episode titled "Trials and Tribble-ations".  This episode did a fantastic job of splicing together parts of it with that of the original Star Trek series.  It was a fun episode.   In the SCA there is an award system.  I actually thought of a person that I am planning to write in for an award.  An alarm has been set so that I can remember after the event. I did some sewing at the studio.  There are now more sashes for the event this weekend.  I also worked on the hem of my Viking dress.  It will not be done for this event.  Thank you to Keziah for taking a picture for me to share here. ☮ Currentl...
