Merry Christmas

Image
Even on my days off I try to get up fairly early.  It took me a while to be productive, but my laundry made it into the wash before the rest of the house woke up and that was the goal.  Here are some happy things from this Christmas day: The stockings were overflowing this morning.  There were lots of treats all around.   We had a practical Christmas so things like clothing, closet rods, and kitchen items were happily given and received.  I got something that I didn't know what it was and they had to tell me.  It is a teflon liner for the stove top.  I'm the one who usually cleans the stove top and this should make the job a lot easier.  Yay! We had a big breakfast after presents.  I made the French toast with eggnog and French toast bread.   I heard from my best friend from high school, Bel & Folke, TF, Amy, and other family and friends with holiday wishes.   I finally made the time to do more setup of my n...

The iPad

Image
Part of me is excited about working on December 24th, part of me is not. Two more days of work and I don't know when I will finish the little bit of holiday shopping I have left to do. I have one big happy for today: A few days ago I mailed a package to Texas. Today it reached its new home with TF.  It also happens to be her birthday, so the timing was good. I sent her a few things, including the earrings I made for her. The big thing I sent to her was the iPad that I won through work a few weeks ago.  It isn't very often I get something like that to give away (like ever?).  She was very surprised and happy which made me happy. Laundry Day

Image
Thursday is laundry day. I also have Sundays because of my weird schedule and lack of work clothes and masks. One of the first things I do on Thursday is my laundry. I'm happy to say that laundry got done and I can go to sleep soon. Other happy things for today: A gift I ordered arrived today. We are having a practical Christmas so I got something for the family to use in the house. It was heavy and came in a big box so I wrapped it. I'm happy that I got to the box before the family saw it and that I got it wrapped up before anyone saw it. Keziah has been out and about every afternoon when I get home from work so I haven;t seen her since Monday. Today she came home before I went to bed. Hugs from my daughter make me happy. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Simple

Image
The other day I was wearing one of my many t-shirts and Gideon said that he really liked it. This shirt is something that had belonged to a cousin who passed away. I really like it, but downsizing is still something I need to do. When Gideon showed interest in the shirt, I decided that he could have if he wanted. I am happy to say that today he was wearing the shirt.  This is a double win for me.  I have one less thing and now I get to see the shirt.   Other things I am happy for: Stepping outside using the porch door it smells like roses. There are evening primrose and daylilies blooming out front. At the studio today I helped Keziah sew up some sashes for the event this weekend. While there, I rolled out my yoga mat and stretched out. Sometimes it is simple things that can bring the most joy. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Flowers

Image
Planting all the flowering things in the triangle part of the driveway was a brilliant move last year.  There are more tulips blooming as others fade and I can see what I think are the irises and paper whites coming up for when the tulips are no more.  I have plans for taking another section of the yard by the road and filling it with bulbs/tubers/pips/rhizomes/seeds to bring joy next year. Other happy things from today include: -The lights have finally been removed from the Christmas tree we had out front.  We thought the lights were broken, but they are working now that they are coiled up and ready to be stored.  The tree is in a burn pile and all that left me the room I needed for the raised step bed I put together yesterday.    -The geraniums that I have been trying to grow for over a year now look good, but they aren't producing any buds.  I placed them outside next to the raised step bed in hopes that more sunshine will help them flou...
