August 14th Yesterday, perhaps because packing was the priority, I forgot to post about the milestone I hit.  Everyday, for two full years, I reached my 10,000 steps a day goal.   I'm not sure if I will continue with this streak or not, but two years!  Other happy things from today in no particular order: --Amid the green in the following picture is a part of the Appalachian Trail that is between east and west Interstate 90 in Massachusetts.  There is a walking bridge to cross the highway. --We drove east on interstate 90 through New York to get home.  We passed by a quarry.  I'm not sure how big a quarry tends to be but this one seemed really large.  To sate my curiosity,  or boredom,  I went to the internet to research the quarry a little.  What I found was the customer comments list.  It was full of rock puns.  Here is a sample... --We had two cars and three drivers for the trip home from Pennsic...

Goals

It has been a high anxiety day. Zed tested positive for covid this morning. Keziah and I both tested negative. This meant most of today was spent doing self-care.  Here are some happy things: Finally I have finished my note taking for the first chapter of the book I am reading: Live Your Bucket List , by Julia Goodfellow-Smith. The result is that I am giving myself until the end of the year (or when the snow/cold is too much for me) to finish seeing the rest of the NH Fire Towers. It is a specific and measurable goal that I believe I can achieve. It is fitting as it is a step towards other dreams and I have put a deadline to complete this goal to help me stay motivated. What I need to do is schedule the times to complete each tower. Making time is my biggest stumbling block. The crescent moon hung low and the stars shone as I took a walk this evening. It was peaceful. In the backyard fireflies danced like fairies. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Medit...

Broken, Not Broken

Yesterday the car broke down, Bel and Folke fixed it, but not enough and it was up to TF and I to take the next step in fixing it this morning. Things were going well. There were four parts, one for each cylinder, that we needed to replace. TF and I worked well together and things went well… until we were on the last part, screwing it in the last bolt I had it just about tight enough when the bolt broke. Thankfully, we were able to find bolts at the local automotive store and now the car works a huge amount better.  Other happy things from today: When the bolt broke in half we were officially without a car. The auto place wasn’t far and we started to walk. Thankfully, one of TF’s neighbors picked us up along the way and this shortened the time it took to get the job done. It felt so good when the car was done and it ran well. We visited Bel and Folke again to help them work on the bus. One of the goals was to get the mattress on the bus and we did! The bus hadn’t been start...

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Happy Mardi Gras!  Tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, is the first day of Lent.  Last year for Lent I made YouTube videos about downsizing.  My goal of going through a box a day and getting rid of at least one thing was met.  I had hoped to use that momentum to go through all the boxes that I have been holding onto in storage since I moved a few years ago.  That has yet to happen.  This year I will be going through my stuff again.  I wasn't working last year and a box a day was doable.  This year I am working and I don't know how many boxes are left so I am changing the goal.  Between March second and April sixteenth (not the actual Lent dates) I will find at least seven things a week to remove from my life.  This gives me the flexibility to skip days if I am busy and tired from work.  Ideally by Easter I will have gotten rid of at least 49 things.  I'm hoping for much more than that.  I also have many other things going on an...
