A Rose For Hope

Image
Today is the day I am questioning my sanity. No, that isn't accurate, today is the day I pushed my sanity to almost breaking. I’m going to call it an anxiety attack since I have no better words for it right now. I was very close to quitting my job. Somehow, reason entered my consciousness and I stayed at work. Eventually I felt better, I think it was one young kid calling me ‘ma’am’ that did it. He seemed to be having fun, so maybe it was slightly infectious. I used to have fun at this job, I’m not sure what changed. By the end of the shift (Well, I left a little early, so even before the true end) I was singing along with the music playing. I am happy that I was able to turn around my mood. My other happy thing from today is that I found two roses, one that is mostly gone and one that is a bud. We have had frost. I think this is close enough to the house to keep it going a little longer.  It makes a beautiful, hopeful thing to end my day.   ☮ Currently readi...

Seasons Mix

It tends to be hard for me to sleep on Thursdays. Perhaps it is because I am off after work for the weekend and want that weekend to start. I don't know what I did differently today but I had a nice nap of around three hours. This was just enough for me to wake up long enough to have dinner with the family and watch the first episode of The Rings of Power . Other happy things from today: Somehow, even though I walk by here every day, I missed this rose when it first bloomed. It is still a beautiful reminder that summer isn't quite over. That said, there are also signs of autumn approaching. Over the weekend I will aim at getting some pictures. For a short time I went to the studio. Keziah wanted to fit me for a new dress. While waiting for her to do her magic with fabric, I worked on sewing the backing to my latch hook. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. It's Thursday!

Leaving for work I noticed something that I haven't seen since last year, a firefly. There was just one, in the grass by the lilacs. It seemed to just be sitting there, blinking off and on. Here are some other happy things from today: We made a stir fry with rice for dinner. Zed made a bowl by putting the rice in while Gideon served himself from the stir fry first. Comments were made about how rice is usually put on the bottom with the stir fry on top and that Gideon was doing it backwards, and that is okay. Gideon responded with, "It's like a treasure hunt for the stir fry!" The occasional work I have been doing for the roses seems to be paying off. Last year I tried to kill off some insect that was eating the leaves and I tried to prune them this spring. The rose bushes are looking nice this year. So many buds and blooms. Perhaps I did something right. My weekend is here! ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture ...

D Day Anniversary

Image
The day started with me being lazy. Eventually I was able to put myself together and get out of the house to run errands and go for a walk with my friend, Amy. Here are some happy things from today: Talking with TF this morning I learned that Texas was supposed to have a high temperature of about 101 degrees. I sure am happy that I live in New England where today's high temperature was supposed to be around 79 degrees. Sorry TF, I hope your AC is working well. Along the trail Amy and I walked we saw some blue herons. Another thing that caught my eye was a lovely pink flower. Lens identifies them as sweet William, but I don’t remember the sweet WIlliams in the yard last year looking like these. My memory isn’t the greatest though. It also is a similar type of flower as the ones I saw in a neighbor's yard down the street, the dianthus. More research…if I can make the time… is required.  There were more than just pink colors too. In our yard some roses have bloomed and th...

Happy June and Pride Month

It rained off and on last night and is raining as I write this. The plants need this. When I take my breaks at work I go out to my car to be alone. If Covid didn't exist, I wouldn't do that. If Covid didn't exist, I'm not sure I would have left my job as a paraeducator. Anyhow, during each break there was evidence of rain, but it wasn't raining. That is something I am happy for, that I stayed dry when I went outside for breaks. Other happy things include: The rose bush is showing signs of blossoming very soon. At least one bud is starting to open and others are not far behind. The cool pre-rain air was refreshing and helped me feel more awake for the drive home from work with a window down.  That crisp, clean smell before a rain can still be invigorating, even since Covid.  😊 ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Weaving Wednesday

Image
Sometimes, sleep is a wonderful thing. Today went so much better than yesterday! I didn’t feel like I was going to fall asleep at work and my attitude was better. Other happy things from today: Since the forsythia are blooming I got out and did a little pruning of the roses. Truth is, even after watching videos and reading articles I still feel that I don’t know what I am doing. Hopefully I didn’t kill them. There is another bush I will get to another day. Before After... Can't really tell I did much. Also on the plant front I repotted some of the marigolds. I’m not sure that was a good idea either, but it is done. If the ones I repotted don’t make it, there are more. The challenge is over. Today is Weaving Wednesday though and so I wove another three of the repeating pattern I’ve been doing.   ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko.
