Happy Hanukkah

Image
There are three games I try to play every day: Wordle , Chrono , and Sedecordle . I usually play them during breaks at work or when I am pacing at home.  In Sedecordle the player is given 21 turns to figure out 16 five letter words. I have three words that I use every game to start off which means I have only two more things that I can get wrong before losing. Today was one of the rare days that one of my starter words was a right answer. Other happy things from today: Tomorrow is my birthday so today we went out for breakfast to celebrate. It was a lot of fun and I'm grateful to the family for joining me in the celebration. This afternoon I joined Keziah and a friend at the studio and tried to help Keziah pattern a dress. It is something I am new at but was happy to help. There were friends over for dinner. One brought her menorah and lit the first candle for the first day of Hanukkah.  I finished watching The Santa Clause .  I plan to watch the rest of that serie...

Games

Often on weekend mornings, Aesop, our dog, will end up at the dog park.  Today this excursion left him muddy.  He got a quick rinse with the hose.  While trying to get him dry Keziah brought him into his fenced area where he got the zoomies.  That little dog is fast.  Keziah decided to let him run through the towel like he was a bull before catching him to towel dry.     Other happy things from today: Keziah, Gideon, and I played a game called Fluxx . I like to describe the game as Calvinball  but as a card game. Calvinball is a game from the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes where there are no rules and so any rules are made up randomly during the game. Fluxx has many different versions. We played the Chemistry version so many cards had elements on them. There is a goal to reach for to win while players change the rules, and goals, during the game. One of the cards had to do with Helium. If a player had a helium card they had to talk wi...

Draining

Things don't always go as planned. One of the things I was hoping to do today didn't happen. April 15th is the day yearly taxes are due. Thankfully this year it is later because I still have a lot to do to get mine done. My plan to spend most of the afternoon working on them at the studio was washed away with another drain problem in the kitchen. I'm pretty sure that is fixed now but there is a problem with the incoming hot water now. I can fix that too, I think, but it may require turning off the water to the house while I fix it. I'm happy the drain is better. Other happy things for today: Some friends and I got together and played games tonight. We played Calico , Takenoko , and Bananagrams . It was fun and I hope we can do it again sometime. There are hyacinths blooming at my friend's house. Tiny leaf buds are showing on the peach tree. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of...

Happy Friday!

Days off can be the best. Also the most tiring. I've been awake too long. The evening ended with friends and games. We played a different version of Kill Dr Lucky. We also played a new-to-me-game called Codenames. Other happy things from today: In the morning Aesop (the dog) and I took a walk around the back property.  There were wisps of clouds rising from the trees in the distance. I started a walking group on Facebook and a few of us met up for our first walk today. We walked a little over four miles on a rail trail. It was a beautiful day to be outside. Sometimes little things can drive me crazy (figuratively). One such thing for me are the towels in the bathroom. We have them hanging on hooks on the door. The problem is when people close the door they sometimes fall to the floor. I've been thinking for a while that I could add loops to the towels and they would stay hanging better. I began the process today with some of the towels. It isn't pretty, but it shou...

Happy New Year!

Image
What a wonderful way to start the new year!  My day was filled with family, friends, games, and getting my steps in.  I was hoping to use my time better this year and I think I managed to do it on the first day.  I didn't manage to get this blog page completely set up, but that doesn't stop me from my daily writing.  This blog is about things that make me happy and that I am thankful for.  Today my happy things are: TF, my friend in Texas, and I got to play some Minecraft today.  We have been working on completing a quest and made some good progress towards that today.   My SCA protege came by and helped my daughter, Keziah, make cookies.  So delicious! After, we played games until late in the evening.   Kill Doctor Lucky . Not sure which version. In this game everyone is out to kill the non-player character Doctor Lucky. Our dog, Aesop, wanted to join in. Dominion . This is more of a resource management style game. It also h...
