Short Tuesday Post

When I get home from work, one of the first things I do is to take off my shoes. Then I generally rest with my feet up while I do my DuoLingo. Sometimes I fall asleep doing this. Usually I stretch out my back. It is quiet -me- time that I appreciate having after work. Other happy things for today: It has been raining. The earth needs that right now. It isn’t cold out, but there is a chill in the air. How soup tastes better when there is a chill in the air and that is what I had for dinner. I did a little more weaving. I’ll keep plugging away at it in hopes that at least one will be ready for the event coming up. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Neurosis

Image
Written before 9:30 AM… This morning I was thinking about a class I want to sign up for and considered the anxiety I am having about signing up for said class. I've decided that the best word that encompasses all the feels around this is neurosis. There may be better, but it is the word that I have right now. Then, to ignore the anxiety and depression surrounding me I avoided signing up for the class by looking at Facebook. I hadn't made the time over the weekend to be on there much so it was easy to fall into. In my Facebook memories were some quotes that I found back in 2011. The following is my choice again for today as it seems fitting: Here is the test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished: if you're alive, it isn't. Richard Bach The class I want to sign up for is ceramics/wheel throwing not molecular science or something that is career essential, why can't I just step out of my comfort zone and do this? Moss

This morning I worked on getting some of my room straight.   It has become out of control and so I tamed a little of it.  Just a little, but a baby step is better than no step.  Other happy things from today: --The rain was nice and held off until after I took a walk this afternoon.  --Along the trail there was an odd moss formation that, even though it may be dieing, I found to be kind of pretty.   --Keziah and I went grocery shopping and she bought me a doughnut.  It was covered with powdered sugar and had a sweet marshmallow type stuffing.   ☮️ Thank you for being part of my happy things.  Stay safe.

Pennsic Day 8

Image
It was the day to run errands.   Here are some happy things from today: --We have clean laundry.  I'm hoping to be set until the end of the event. --The water softener tank has been exchanged.   I don't need to worry about that running out over the weekend.  The water at the site is so hard it has iron sediment. --There was some heavy rain this afternoon and evening.   Not all the tents in our group stayed dry.  Some folks worked together to make sure everyone is taken care of.  We have good people in our encampment.  --There was a rainbow...before we got rained on. The rainbow was behind us. Storm's coming!  I couldn't act... ☮️ Thank you for being part of my happy things.  Stay safe.

Rain, Rain

There was a challenge I accepted on the Map My Run app to use the app for a walk or run every day in the month of July.  I started to regret that decision when the rain started to fall after work.  It was a gentle rain and the temperature was not cold so instead, I remembered that it can be nice to walk in the rain, sometimes.  When I got home from the walk, I roamed the yard looking for new things to see and write about.  Here are some of those happy things: Raspberry season is upon us.  There is a wild variety scattered about the property.  I picked two that seemed ripe and Gideon and I each had one.  They were okay, not overly flavorful in my opinion, but not bad.  The scarlet bee balm in the yard seems to only hold on to the smallest droplets of rain. The lily however was collecting the rain in places with large droplets. The spruce tree is looking a little colorful as the new branches grow from the old in a different color.  ...

Happy June and Pride Month

It rained off and on last night and is raining as I write this. The plants need this. When I take my breaks at work I go out to my car to be alone. If Covid didn't exist, I wouldn't do that. If Covid didn't exist, I'm not sure I would have left my job as a paraeducator. Anyhow, during each break there was evidence of rain, but it wasn't raining. That is something I am happy for, that I stayed dry when I went outside for breaks. Other happy things include: The rose bush is showing signs of blossoming very soon. At least one bud is starting to open and others are not far behind. The cool pre-rain air was refreshing and helped me feel more awake for the drive home from work with a window down.  That crisp, clean smell before a rain can still be invigorating, even since Covid.  😊 ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. It was a rainy day with passing thunderstorms in Texas. During a lull between the storms I went for a walk to help me get some steps in. I didn’t make it back before the rain started again, but it was close. This was the first time in the four days of being here that I haven’t had to get the rest of my steps in after dark walking the neighborhood. Yay! Other happy things from today: The Blue Bonnets are starting to turn to seed and are still very pretty. I got some pictures of some other flowers while out walking too. There was a section of trail with slightly gnarly trees that were dark from the rain. It was only a slightly eerie feeling so I proceeded. At one point while it was raining steadily, I went out to just listen and take a picture of the water falling onto the trampoline. Tournament

Walking outside to go to the mailbox this afternoon I pleasantly inhaled the smell of rain. It hadn't started yet but the fragrance and the pressure change between the inside world and outside world were grounding for me. It was energizing and calming somehow at the same time.  Other happy things: Naps. Working overnight and then wanting to do things in the evening when I can, makes having naps important.  I'm happier when I have had some sleep. There was a small SCA tournament tonight hosted by a local SCA knight. It was fun to watch. As Baroness I keep trying to find ways to be more involved with the fighting without actually fighting.  Right now that mostly means being a presence in the community. For day 88 of the A&S challenge I was looking for something different to embroider and Keziah handed me a pin to use as a model.  I've pulled out parts to redo a few times and I still don't have it right.  ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer...
