Merry Christmas

Image
Even on my days off I try to get up fairly early.  It took me a while to be productive, but my laundry made it into the wash before the rest of the house woke up and that was the goal.  Here are some happy things from this Christmas day: The stockings were overflowing this morning.  There were lots of treats all around.   We had a practical Christmas so things like clothing, closet rods, and kitchen items were happily given and received.  I got something that I didn't know what it was and they had to tell me.  It is a teflon liner for the stove top.  I'm the one who usually cleans the stove top and this should make the job a lot easier.  Yay! We had a big breakfast after presents.  I made the French toast with eggnog and French toast bread.   I heard from my best friend from high school, Bel & Folke, TF, Amy, and other family and friends with holiday wishes.   I finally made the time to do more setup of my n...

Christmas Eve

Image
With care, we hung the stockings by the chimney -that no longer works- in the living room.  Winston by the fire. Happy Christmas Eve!  Here are some happy highlights from today: What we are using as a Christmas tree this year is finally ready. Keziah had this idea and yesterday she put it together. Today it got decorated and the presents were placed nearby. She created a "tree" out of the empty boxes we've been receiving deliveries in. Unfortunately, many things came in bags instead. The "tree" is perfect for the safety of the cats. Nanni is under the "tree". Not only did I get myself a laptop with money I've been saving, I got myself a Kindle Fire tablet with my overtime money from this month. It arrived today. I don't know when I will have the time to start using my new toys.  I may have gone overboard on myself this year. We watched three holiday shows this evening. The first was my favorite, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas . Gideon s...

Windy Weather

Image
Things at work have slowed down so when voluntary time off was offered, I took it. I'm scheduled and still plan to work tonight. The part of me that likes a larger paycheck thinks I should have stayed at work. The part that finished Christmas shopping with Keziah this morning is very happy.  Other happy things from today: In the quiet before everyone else was awake I was able to weave.  I finished weaving on the award for fencing and I started the next one.   The weather outside is frightful. Winds are gusting such that the rain is sometimes horizontal. If this were snow, it would probably be a Blizzard. Gideon loves the rain and was very excited to just listen to it when he woke up this morning. Yesterday I finished watching The Santa Clause 3 . I don't think I had seen that one before. The Santa Clauses is new this year. It is a series and I watched the first two episodes today.   Keziah brought home my last two pieces of pottery.  They are finis...

I Won a Prize!

Image
Other people at my work have to work 60 hours, my schedule only requires 50 hours. I could volunteer to put in more time, but I doubt I will. My body is tired and I have learned that self-care is important.  It is especially important because I feel like I am fighting a cold.  Here are some happy things from today: Work supplied sandwiches from an unknown place tonight. The food I chose was yummy. The packages had the general ingredient list on them. It made it so much easier to find something I liked. There was also a cookie and bag of chips. I gave the cookie to Zed's mom because I can't eat chocolate and the rest of the family is away for the day. She let me have a biscuit and some of the bacon she had been cooking when I got home. This was a win-win situation.  Another thing they do at work this time of year is give away things. I won an iPad. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, I'm not really an Apple person. Winners are chosen at random,...

Laundry Day

Image
Thursday is laundry day. I also have Sundays because of my weird schedule and lack of work clothes and masks. One of the first things I do on Thursday is my laundry. I'm happy to say that laundry got done and I can go to sleep soon. Other happy things for today: A gift I ordered arrived today. We are having a practical Christmas so I got something for the family to use in the house. It was heavy and came in a big box so I wrapped it. I'm happy that I got to the box before the family saw it and that I got it wrapped up before anyone saw it. Keziah has been out and about every afternoon when I get home from work so I haven;t seen her since Monday. Today she came home before I went to bed. Hugs from my daughter make me happy. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Currently listening to: The Raven King , by Maggie Stiefvater. Thank you for being part of my happy thin...

Busy Day

Image
My breakfast movie today (I get up early on Monday's) was finishing Father Christmas Is Back . I'm not in love with any of the movies I've been watching. They have happy endings though, and that is what counts.  Other happy things from today: Gideon and I walked together to the studio from a local restaurant. I thought the walk was only one mile, but it was two. We walked by the planetarium and some of the planets they have displayed on the solar system walk. Last time I did this walk I only found Pluto and Neptune. Today we found Uranus too! Gideon with Pluto. Gideon with Neptune. Uranus and a little of Gideon. We also walked near a pond that seemed to have a layer of ice on it. It was pretty. Someone has decorated a tree that hangs over the sidewalk near the studio.   At the studio, I came close to finishing the backing on my latch hook, maybe next time. Keziah and I also glazed some pottery. I didn't take any pictures but there isn't much to see once the ...

Christmas Season Has Begun

Image
Another day of waking up before my alarm clock and going to bed later than I wanted. Hopefully that means I will get to sleep easily when I finally rest my weary head. It was a good day. Keziah and I spent some time at the studio, she is still there. My work week starts tonight so I couldn’t stay. Here are some happy things: At the studio this morning I pulled out the latch hook that I didn't quite finish earlier this year. I've finally started putting on the backing. What I got done seemed to go quickly.  The back looks good... While I was sitting hand sewing the backing, Keziah was busy sewing with the serger. She talks to it. Sweet, loving talk to keep it working well. It is pleasant to listen to and makes the rumbling sound of the machine seem a little less harsh.  When I sit down for lunch at home I like to watch something. Today I decided to just start going through all the corny Christmas shows that Netflix keeps suggesting. I started watching Falling For Chr...
