Pennsic Day 8

Image
It was the day to run errands.   Here are some happy things from today: --We have clean laundry.  I'm hoping to be set until the end of the event. --The water softener tank has been exchanged.   I don't need to worry about that running out over the weekend.  The water at the site is so hard it has iron sediment. --There was some heavy rain this afternoon and evening.   Not all the tents in our group stayed dry.  Some folks worked together to make sure everyone is taken care of.  We have good people in our encampment.  --There was a rainbow...before we got rained on. The rainbow was behind us. Storm's coming!  I couldn't act... ☮️ Thank you for being part of my happy things.  Stay safe.

Nostalgia

Keziah and I spent most of the day out and about. We met some friends to look at a potential site for an upcoming event. This particular site I have been to many times, but most of those times were before I turned 18. These are only dim glimpses at vague memories but they are my happy things for today: Sleeping in a lean to, in the woods, with a bunch of other girls. I’m sure there were giggles as well as fear of animals that might be by in the night. I have no horror stories from that, other than mosquitos.  The lean tos are screened in now. There is a large open area by the lake where we would sing by a fire at night. The sounds of “Kumbaya, My Lord,” echo across the water and my mind.  I remember that there were stars too. My best friend and I teamed up and competed in egg toss. If my memory serves me right, we won a few years in a row. That field where we played has not changed much.                       ...

Palio Day 1... I Guess

It was after eight in the evening by the time we finally left for the event.   I say we, but Keziah made the trip twice. She left earlier in the day when it became apparent that all the things and all the people were not going to fit. We had two extra people and all their camping things, plus our stuff. Keziah went early with the two extra people, their stuff, and some of our stuff. She set the tent up, unloaded, and came back for more. We also had to get the thrones out of storage and they are not small. Zed and I got the thrones out of storage while Keziah made her first trip. Here are some other happy things from today: -Highway 93 has seeded wildflowers along the median.  A week ago they were mostly daisies.  Now they are mostly brown-eyed Susans.   I love that states do this and beautify the areas. - I'm at an SCA camping event.  I haven't attended one in over two years, I think.  It is good. -The sky is filled with st...
