2022 Happy To Be Here

We were gone for a little over two weeks.  My sleep patterns adjusted and I was unable to get to sleep last night for a long time.  FitBit has me sleeping less than three hours.  I still went to work, and stayed almost until the end.  I chose to leave a little early because I was exhausted.  I'm happy I made it as long as I did.  Other happy things: -- One of the managers asked how my vacation was.  In a place where I try to be invisible, it can be good to know I am not. --The peaches ripened while we were gone.  We might not get any,  but other wildlife are enjoying them.   --We were gifted some bagels and cream cheese before leaving Pennsic.   It is yet another thing that makes me happy that I am eating gluten again.  ☮️ Thank you for being part of my happy things. Clouds can make some gorgeous formations. They can be huge, small, puffy, or flat. They can also resemble things– a dinosaur, dog, dragon, or dancing bear. I didn't get a picture but saw what seemed to be an upside-down shark and it got me thinking about teleportation. Would that upside-down shark look right-side up to someone five or ten miles to the west of me? Or would it just be a blob? Perception makes a difference.  Depending on the atmospheric conditions the clouds can be ever changing or seem to be standing still. But how different they may look to the person in the next town over is where teleportation comes in. A person could witness them from multiple positions with just moments between the viewing. And that would be cool. Other happy things from today: I only got a few things done but Keziah was very productive and I am proud of her for all she accomplished today. Keziah and I had plans today. I chose to wake up a little earlier to get some of the little daily things I like to do out of the way. Things like Duo Lingo and reading. Of note I am pleased to say that I finished reading The Middle Ages - A Graphic History. The end of the book and how they sorted through when the Middle Ages ended was my favorite part. Other happy things for today: We pruned the peach tree, Marjorie. Ýes, Keziah named the tree. I don't remember when the best time to prune fruit trees is, but Marjorie needed it so when we had time was the right time.   With patterning help from Keziah I almost finished making a Viking apron dress. It just needs to be hemmed and the straps need to be made.  No pictures until it is ready. The day was hot. After sunset I took a walk. The air felt just a little bit fresher, I knew when I walked near lilacs by the sweet smell, the moon lit the way, and the music of frogs and a whippoorwill serenaded me. The camera...

Happy Cinco de Mayo.  At work there was a small table with tortilla chips, salsa, cheese, and things to celebrate this Mexican holiday.  I didn't partake because buffets and the pandemic still kind of freak me out. I'm happy that they did something for this day. Other happy things for today: After work today I took a nap. I’m not working tonight so I didn’t need a long sleep. I didn’t set an alarm and didn’t sleep for very long. It must have been enough though because I went out after and mowed the lawn up by the garden. In the garden  the cherry tree and peach tree have blossoms. The rhubarb that I transplanted last year has come up. Unless it suddenly becomes more abundant, I will most likely leave it alone until next year. Things don't always go as planned. One of the things I was hoping to do today didn't happen. April 15th is the day yearly taxes are due. Thankfully this year it is later because I still have a lot to do to get mine done. My plan to spend most of the afternoon working on them at the studio was washed away with another drain problem in the kitchen. I'm pretty sure that is fixed now but there is a problem with the incoming hot water now. I can fix that too, I think, but it may require turning off the water to the house while I fix it. I'm happy the drain is better. Other happy things for today: Some friends and I got together and played games tonight. We played Calico , Takenoko , and Bananagrams . It was fun and I hope we can do it again sometime. There are hyacinths blooming at my friend's house.
