Thankful Wednesday

It is Thankful Wednesday! I’ve been watching a bunch of Christmas movies on Netflix. They have pretty much all been romantic comedies. I’m thankful for this seemingly never ending supply of holiday cheer. Today I watched Single All the Way . It didn’t quite tick off all the same themes as most of the others have. In my opinion it was an absolutely adorable gay romantic comedy.  The other thing I am thankful for today is food at work. Sometimes, when it is busy, they bring in free food at work for the employees. Today I got an egg and cheese bagel. It was pretty good and a nice change from my usual trail mix meal.  There is supposed to be something every day this week.  I don't know what they had yesterday, I forgot to look. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Thankful Wednesday

It is Thankful Wednesday! Here are a few thankful things: Today I am thankful for leftovers. Leftovers take so much of the brain work out of eating. This is especially useful when I am very tired from working all night. Today the leftover was pasta.  I am thankful for online gift registries. Keziah and I were able to order gifts for an upcoming baby shower without being together by browsing the gift registry at the same time and talking on the phone.  I am also grateful that that part of the task is done and I don't have to think about it anymore. One person I am eternally grateful for is my son-in-law, Zed (he let me take a picture of him working). I am thankful to him for letting me live with him, Keziah, and Gideon. He is a wonderful husband for Keziah and father for Gideon. He puts love and a sense of humor into all our lives. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Boryse...

Thankful Wednesday

It is Thankful Wednesday. There are a few of my friends that are posting daily on Facebook for November things that they are thankful for. My Facebook memories remind me that I have done that before too. I'm thankful to be able to read them when I see them. Here are some things I am thankful for: The night was clear with a mostly full moon to guide me to the car last night. I heard from my friend in Texas today. We are both in a better headspace this week than we were last week. I am thankful for the happy memories I have of people that are no longer with us. Nanni was nice enough to pose so I could have a picture in today’s blog. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Thankful That It Is Wednesday

Thankful Wednesday. Apparently I haven't been looking up much lately when I leave for work, or it has been overcast. Looking up last night there was Orion, not where I thought I saw the constellation last. It was beautiful, I am thankful to have seen it. My other thankful things for today are the cats. It is nice to have them near. Nanni, the brown tabby, likes to follow me around the first few minutes that I am up. Once I pet her a little bit, she wanders away. DuoLingo

Thankful Wednesday. It has been a long time since I forgot to practice DuoLingo. Even with the few times I forgot and the program let me keep my streak, 1400 days is a lot. Unfortunately, practice and learning are two different things and I still have ways to go. I'm thankful for being able to learn this way.   I finished listening to The Raven Boys on the way home from work today. It didn't end the way I expected. What this means is that this is part of a series. I'm very thankful that the next book in the series is available so I can start listening on my way into work. I really enjoyed the book. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Thankful Wednesday! Today I am thankful to be living in a part of the world where there are so many different types of trees that bring so many colors in the fall. There is more to life than foliage. I'm also thankful for the generosity of people. Recently someone offered us another car. I'm fairly certain we won't be getting it, but it is a wonderful offer. Then there is the class I am trying to work on to learn Java. If I can complete it and do well on the exam in January, I might get accepted into the next class, through work. This could open up some more opportunities. I'm thankful for this. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Thankful Wednesday

The other day when I finished listening to a book on Hoopla, Keziah and I talked about how I was having trouble figuring out what to listen to. I would find one book in a series but the others weren’t available or I just didn’t find what I was looking for. She did some searching in Hoopla and found a few different books that she thinks I will enjoy. I’m enjoying the one I am listening to now, The Raven Boys . I am thankful for my daughter for many reasons, today it is for her book recommendations. Wednesday's Thankful Things

Image
It is Thankful Wednesday. Things I am thankful for today include: Sleep. The amount of sleep I got yesterday seemed adequate. I felt a huge amount better last night than the previous one. Work seemed to go well. Now if I can get enough tonight too… When we moved to this house about two and a half years ago the back property had been logged and parts of it were barren. I'm thankful that is no longer the case. It has grown in so much that the trails are all but gone and if I want them, I'll need to tend to them next year. I'm thankful for a negative covid test. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Short Thankful Post

It is Thankful Wednesday! It is my midweek day where I am too tired to do much. Here are some things I am thankful for today: At work, a box fell and almost hit me in the head. I'm thankful that it missed. Also at work, I found out that raises are coming in October. Yay more money! TF called to do our midweek check in. I had forgotten, so I'm thankful she called. I also forgot that I wanted to practice typing and do a little cleaning each day. It was a perfect reminder. All About the Tech

It is my thankful Wednesday. This is the middle of my work week and the day I tend to be the most tired and so a thankful day seemed a better option than happy. Here are some things I am thankful for today: Yesterday I wrote about applying for some training through work. If all goes well, this will be a long process. I'm thankful that the first step is done and accepted. I'll be doing the next step over the weekend when I have slept. One of the things I will need to know more about for the training is JAVA. It is a computer programming language that I know little about. I'm thankful that Hoopla had a small ebook I could borrow through my library to read and start learning. Every little bit will help, or I'll find that this isn't for me. Either way is a good learning process. Today is the last day of summer. I'm thankful that autumn is on the way, though I'm not looking forward to winter this year, maybe that will change. I took some pictures of s...

Thankful Wednesday

It is Thankful Wednesday!  That means I am two-thirds of the way through my work week.  Work went well.  I have a new manager and I was able to talk with them for a few minutes today.  I let them know that I want to learn more things.  There are staffing issues that are making it difficult to train people right now, but at least I have voiced my wants.   Other things I am thankful for today: Netflix and other streaming services.  I've been using old movies as background noise for when I am weaving the background sections.  It needs to be fairly quiet still when I weave the designs, but the practice has been making that easier too. I completed the weaving part of the green and white band.  Tomorrow it will come off the loom and I will stitch the ends so they don't unravel.  There will be at least two of the eight bands completed, possibly five.  My friend hasn't quite finished the three she has been working on but she is g...

Thankful Wednesday

It is the last day of August. I'm tired of the heat of summer and looking forward to September weather. I'm thankful for the seasons and the changes that they bring. Other things I am thankful for: When I let a supervisor at work know the job I was doing was making me feel ill, they switched where I was. Sometimes, packages coming at me fast along the rollers give me an upset stomach. Today I was at the fastest area and it didn't go well. So I'm thankful they moved me. There is a possibility that I will have more help with weaving. I'm very thankful for this. I finished the first pattern on the weaving, crossed fencing swords. I'm hopeful that at least some of the pieces will be ready before the event.  I'm thankful that I am remembering how to weave and some little tricks are coming back to me. ☮ I'm going to try to get back into the habit of listing what I am reading... Dirty Dishes

Image
It is my thankful Wednesday. Today is all about the dishes. For starters, I’m thankful for them–dishes, plates, bowls, silverware, cookware, bakeware, serving utensils, all of it. Where would we be without them? Eating with our fingers and cooking over a fire, maybe. I’m not saying that there aren’t things to eat with our fingers, but not everything, at least not for me. I like to be able to clean my fingers soon after eating something messy. It is just the way I am. There are also disposable dishes, bowls, etc. They have a place and I am thankful for them. I do prefer the real stuff that can be washed though. I’m not sure if one has a lesser environmental impact or not, I like to think that ceramic that needs to be washed is better for the environment as a whole. Many people don’t like to wash dishes. It may not be my most favorite thing to do, but it isn’t usually the worst. When I am not in a rush, or the dishes aren’t completely gross, I find it enjoyable. For one th...

Thankful It Is Wednesday

Wednesday is my day to be thankful. Earlier this week there was a very minor problem with the car I drive the most. It was a sound that could have been anything but it turned out that just a new screw could fix it. Today I am thankful for a working vehicle that does what it needs to do. It is something that gets taken for granted until something happens and suddenly you're stuck. A few times a week my friend from Texas, TF, and I talk on the phone and go over our plans for the week with each other. These are our accountability meetings. When there are things we struggle with we try to talk through it and try to come at things from a different angle or perspective. I am thankful for the friendship and for trying to keep each other accountable. It turns out that I like zoning out with the television on when I eat after work. I haven't always, but lately it has been nice to turn on some media outlets and find things to watch. Currently that is the series Merlin on Netfl...

Snake!

Thankful Wednesday (See post from last Wednesday to read about the change.) --This week I am thankful that my daughter, her husband, and my grandson are gracious and allow me to live with them. They are also patient with my weird hours and eating habits. I love them bunches and don't know (nor do I want to) where I would be without them in my life. --One of the few good things to come from the covid pandemic is the normalization of video appointments. Not every appointment should be done over the phone, but it is much more convenient for me to have those that can be done as a video or phone call to be that way. I save on gas and vehicle wear and tear. There is also the drive time which becomes my time again. It isn't for everyone, but I am thankful for them. --Since I saw one of these when I got home from work and I like posting pictures, I am thankful for garter snakes. They eat things that might eat the garden. It is the only snake that I am aware of that I don’t m...
