First Full Day in Autumn

Image
Autumn came in with a chill. The temperatures only got up to around 56 degrees today with quite a breeze. I don't want summer back, but I was cold. Here are some happy things from today: My morning started with a follow-up doctor's appointment concerning my thyroid. The good news is that I don't have to go back for another year. I have reason to believe that giving up gluten may have helped reduce some inflammation and helped my thyroid look better on the ultrasound. I visited a friend and we shot archery. I didn't do great, but that is what practice is for. In the afternoon I hiked with some friends. We went about six miles around parts of Crotched Mt. here in NH. There were four different apps used to calculate the mileage with four different results. It is a beautiful area and will be more colorful in a few short weeks. There is a foundation in this picture DRAGON!! In the evening I went to craft night. I have been working on the finishing touches of a latch...

Thankful It Is Wednesday

Image
Wednesday is my day to be thankful. Earlier this week there was a very minor problem with the car I drive the most. It was a sound that could have been anything but it turned out that just a new screw could fix it. Today I am thankful for a working vehicle that does what it needs to do. It is something that gets taken for granted until something happens and suddenly you're stuck. A few times a week my friend from Texas, TF, and I talk on the phone and go over our plans for the week with each other. These are our accountability meetings. When there are things we struggle with we try to talk through it and try to come at things from a different angle or perspective. I am thankful for the friendship and for trying to keep each other accountable. It turns out that I like zoning out with the television on when I eat after work. I haven't always, but lately it has been nice to turn on some media outlets and find things to watch. Currently that is the series Merlin on Netfl...

A Demo at the Ren Faire

Image
It was another long day with sunshine, laughter, and people. Keziah and I spent the day at the NH Renaissance Faire helping participate in a demo for the SCA. I want to be with people but it is so hard. Hopefully it will get better the more I get out. We again saw people we haven't seen in a while and some we have. We did our best to make people who stopped by the tent comfortable and to let them know how much fun the SCA is. I must say that the person in charge of the demo was so very good at making people comfortable it was wonderful to see. Other happy things from today: I got to hold a baby. Not a newborn, but it was fun to get to hold a little one even for a short time. There is a small regional war in the SCA coming in July. This year the 'reason' has to do with a dispute over missing sheep. Someone decided to play along with this schtick by leaving little sheep where Keziah or I might find them. A friend had a booth there, Dragon Academy. Such talent to ...
