2022 Happy To Be Here

 It was a good and relaxing day.  Let me share with you some things that were happy for me today: There were some tracks in the driveway brought to my attention this morning.  I believe them to be mouse tracks, but I'm still learning. Keziah and I went to the studio where we cleaned and reorganized the place.  We also put together a shelving unit to keep things better organized.  I should've taken a picture! Sometimes when walking upstairs a person will bump their foot on the stair ahead of them.  Sometimes when this happens and the stairs are painted, the paint chips.  Sometimes what is left is a blotch.  Sometimes what is left is a polar bear.  I like to think that the building where the studio is wants art to exist so much that it just happens accidentally.  When I go up the stairs at the studio and see the polar bear it makes me happy.   I learned that previous Baronial heads of Stonemarche gifted small stones to the incom...

After work I met Keziah at the SCA storage unit to look through things for the event this weekend.  The person who is in charge of the Barony's things has done a great job of cataloging many of the containers.  It has made finding things so much easier.  We were able to find all the things that we were looking for that we thought were in there.  Not everything fit in the van so another trip will need to be made on Friday.  Yay, organization!  Other happy things for today: When I left for work there were coyote tracks walking down the driveway.  At least I am fairly certain that is the animal that left these.  Today was mostly spent doing self care.  There was a wedding today that I wanted to go to. Thankfully the bride's mother recorded it and I got to watch it.  Keziah officiated.  The couple plan to marry again with a full ceremony and reception next year.  They canceled because of the pandemic.  I'm so happy that they still got married this year with just some close friends and family.  Other happy things for today: My original plan was to just go to the wildlife camera for the SD card, bring it back to the house to download the contents and then return the SD card.  After getting on coat, hat, boots, and scarf I decided to walk around the property once too.  There were some tracks in the snow, but not a lot of detail.  Here is what I think I saw: I'm pretty sure the tracks below my foot are from a chipmunk; the tracks above from a mouse. Birka memories have been all over my Facebook feed lately. This SCA event is the big one that, prior to Covid, we held at the end of every January. This event is where Keziah and I were invested and Baron and Baroness three years ago. Keziah would have attended her first Birka event as a three-month-old. This is an event that is near and dear to my heart. We made the decision early last fall to cancel the event. I am so very happy that we made the choice early on partially because it would have been canceled last minute anyway. However, the amount of preparation stress I did not endure because we made this choice early is immeasurable. Other things I am happy for today: Our dog Aesop is home from being boarded over the weekend. Other than the cats, everyone is glad he is home. Not the best Aesop picture, but the only one today.  While TF and I were on the phone going over our weekly accountability the subject of labyrinths came up.  She had learned of a few near where she lives in Texas and is planning to visit one this week.  So I did a search for some near me.  It turns out there are labyrinths all over the place.  Looking for one?  Try this website .  Now I want to build one on the property somewhere.  Somehow, I doubt I will get to it, but it would be a neat thing to have.  Other happy things from today: I took Aesop, our dog, on a walk today.  We went to a conservation area in town.  There was one other set of human prints along part of the trail since the snow early last week.  We followed what might have been coyote tracks for a while though.  Tracks can be really hard to read in the snow.  There was some scat and that is part of what makes me think of a coyote.  There was a snow storm this morning.  I had an appointment that I couldn't cancel and Zed was gracious enough to drive me to.  We got up early, shoveled, took our time, and made it to the appointment on time.  The drive home was fine for us too.  Zed is a very good driver.  Actually, it makes me nervous to drive with him when the weather is good, but I am comforted when he is driving in the snow.  I don't claim to be rational.  Getting back into the driveway was harder than getting out.  My hands were full with breakfast things when I got home so we didn't shovel right away upon return.  About 20 minutes later I went out and started to shovel again.  At that point the rain had started.  It was so very heavy compared to the early morning shoveling.  I did the walkway and left the rest to the plow person and Zed to finish up.  The happy thing here is that we were careful and had no incidents in this morning's storm....
