NY Event Last Day

Image
It started as a slow day. I didn't sleep well, but we felt it was important to pack up everything before the rain came. Thankfully, the rain held out long enough that we were able to take our time getting things into the car. In fact, other than some occasional sprinkles, the rain held out completely. Packing dry when possible is so important though, so we did. Other happy things from today: -First court this morning was short and had few attendees. One person was sent on vigil and then court was over. -A friend is helping with the weaving, at least for today. I only got a little weaving done before there was too much going on for me to be able to concentrate on it. -During the afternoon court there were three Pelican elevations. It was good to be there to welcome these people to the order.  Unfortunately I am too tired to due them justice with words.                                     ...

Pennsic Day 13

Image
Every Pennsic I say that I will take more pictures.  I've taken more than some previous, but I have ended a day this time wishing I had pulled the camera on my phone out earlier.  I got my phone out for pictures of a brief field court but didn't for the Heavy List Baronial Champions.  I took pictures of the Baronial Thrown Weapons Champions but not the little bit of the Baronial Fencing Champions that I saw.  A little before dark I remembered to have Keziah take a picture of me in the garb I started making months ago.  The Viking dress is complete, not the chemise.  I wore an older one for today.   Here are some happy things from today: --All the Baronial Championships I attended today were good.  Watching the different Champions from other Baronies compete against each other and give us insight of their thoughts on being a champion as well as Chivalry is enlightening.  It is one of the things that helps remind me of what we ...

Pennsic Day 6

The big thing I did today at Pennsic involved volunteering with setting up the East Kingdom Royal Area.  I helped move things, put things together, and sort things.   Along the outside of the area they use sheet walls that have the coat of arms for the groups within the Kingdom.  They were being laid on the ground for sorting.  The first one I picked up turned out to be my Barony's!  I'm not sure what the chances are of that but it surprised me.  For being there and helping we were give a pin as a thank you.   Other happy things from today include: -- While shopping with Keziah I found a new Pelican medallion.  The Pelican is a service award.   --it was a hot day with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees.  In the afternoon I tried to take a nap.  It was real nice to be able to relax in the heat of the day. --One of the things that got set up at EK Royal was a unicorn that is a sprinkler....

Weaving Wednesday

Image
This morning I did what I said I wasn't going to do anymore and I left work after only two hours.  They had me assigned to busy work and I couldn't stop thinking about the things I could be doing at home.  When I say at home though, I really mean the studio.  I didn't go straight to the studio, I did a few things at home first.  I spent at least 8 hours at the studio and forgot to eat lunch!  Happy things for today are: At the studio I finished the tunic I have been making for a friend.  No picture because I forgot and it doesn't look different, I just reinforced some seams and tried to make sure all the threads were cut. I worked on the tunic for Gideon.  It is almost done.  I'm supposed to leave the neck for when Keziah can size it up on Gideon.  I also left the clavi unfinished in the back because I needed to get home to get ready for work tonight. Another thing I worked on at the studio was a pair of earrings.  I've had the pa...
