Riding the Wave

When I consider the training course that I am trying to get into, I feel excited. Then starts the anxiety where I think of all the ways that I am lacking. One of the things I started doing today is to take an online free typing tutor to help me increase the speed at which I type. When I have taken free online tests for speed I only type around 32-35 words per minute (WPM).  According to the internet, 40-45 WPM is the average but 65 WPM and higher is where to aim for a job with typing.  I’m hoping that the typing tutor that I am using will help to increase my speed and accuracy. I’m happy that I thought about doing this. The big question is whether I will remember to practice daily when I can. Generally when I decide to do something daily, I’ve been pretty good at it. Other happy things from today: Keziah made a delicious baked French toast that I had when I got home from work. The possibility that I might be getting this training has inspired me to get other things don...

Tomorrow (Sunday) is National Earmuff Day

When I downsized last year and went through a box a day it was a daily task.  This year I am trying to be more gentle with myself.  Seven things a week is my goal.  I think I do better with daily goals.  The other day I went through my desk and was able to find seven things to remove from my life.  While putting away laundry today I decided to go through a drawer.  I found six more things that I am getting rid of.  Yay! Other happy things for today include: Snow.  I'm ready for this to be the last of the season, but it sure can be pretty. Keziah and I packed some things into the van to take to the studio tomorrow.  Now that the event is over we can focus more on organizing and setting the studio up.   A&S challenge day 69, I watched a YouTube video that gave instructions on making a pattern.  I made the pattern and wrote down the directions.   ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations,...

Last week I wrote of my intention to remove things from my life during Lent.  The goal is seven items a week.  I'm trying to be flexible and forgiving with myself this year since I have less available time.  It was my hope to get my desk cleaned off and I figured I could easily find seven things.  This is where the flexible and forgiving part comes in. Before As I filled up a shopping bag with trash and another with recycling I realized that I am just not comfortable counting individual pieces of trash.  But, some trash does count.  My seven things for this week: A bag of recycling A bag of trash An old pen that I am throwing away.  Why am I counting this as separate?  I have been holding onto this pen because it is cute and I want it to work.  I couldn't make it work and it is silly to hold onto it so it is in the trash. One pair of shoulder pads that I was holding onto in case I ever needed shoulder pads??  I'm donating them. I'm also ...

Happy Valentine's Day

Once again I have stayed up too late.  I had a fairly productive afternoon.  It is what my happy things for today revolve around.  I forgot to take a before picture, but I did take an in the middle picture. That is a small part of the mess I had made over the last few months on the front porch.  It got cleaned up.  Then, when the room was still mostly empty I set up a little greenhouse in the corner.  I'm hoping for plants to be in there in the next few days.  More progress pictures: The greenhouse!  If I want, I can fit two there, side by side. Slowly adding things back in. There are four rocking chairs back in. One is not usable because of the container full of  random gardening supplies. The room still needs work, but it is way more usable now than it was.   I also completed day 43 of the A&S challenge with the latch hook.  Soon I will need to find something else to do at home for the challenge. ❤ ☮ ❤ Currently rea...
