Pennsic Day 13

Every Pennsic I say that I will take more pictures.  I've taken more than some previous, but I have ended a day this time wishing I had pulled the camera on my phone out earlier.  I got my phone out for pictures of a brief field court but didn't for the Heavy List Baronial Champions.  I took pictures of the Baronial Thrown Weapons Champions but not the little bit of the Baronial Fencing Champions that I saw.  A little before dark I remembered to have Keziah take a picture of me in the garb I started making months ago.  The Viking dress is complete, not the chemise.  I wore an older one for today.  

Here are some happy things from today:

--All the Baronial Championships I attended today were good.  Watching the different Champions from other Baronies compete against each other and give us insight of their thoughts on being a champion as well as Chivalry is enlightening.  It is one of the things that helps remind me of what we in the SCA refer to as "The Dream."  The pictures are from the Thrown Weapons Tournament. 


--A good friend and person that I admire was presented with their writ for becoming a Pelican today at a field court.  The Pelican is the highest service level award in the SCA.  She is very deserving and I look forward to being there when she steps into this new role in September. 


--I haven't made the chance to see Gideon fight yet this war, but I did get a look at him in armor today.  He is wearing a red tunic and pink helmet and holding a foam pole arm.

Peaches

Snow Sounds

 When I don't work and my schedule adjusts to daytime, I often stay snuggled in bed doing things on my phone. This morning it was snowing outside. I can hear the cars go by. I can tell when the roads are wet. Right now (around 8 AM) I can tell that some snow is staying on the roads and under tires, at least in some spots. There is a muffled crunching sort of sound the tires make when rolling over snow. And yet there isn't. I realize that the crunching was a slower vehicle, probably on the side of the road, turning, or driveway. Most cars are traveling at a reasonable speed, the snow is most likely blowing to the sides, lightweight. The sound is still muffled slightly which tells me that the snow is falling.  Other happy things for today: Day 5: Today the A&S challenge is not an unfinished project.  I found my lucet so I decided to refresh my memory on how to do a lucet braid. Weaving Day

My grandson, Gideon, has been trying to learn magic tricks with cards. He struggles with the slight of hand, and knows it. I admire that he is trying. He also tries to invent new card games. Other happy things from today: My friend, Amy, had a craft afternoon at her house today for just a few people. Most of us had weaving projects. I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but made some good progress on my loom. It was also good to spend time with friends.  Later, at home the family had leftovers from Thanksgiving, including pie for dessert. The pies are almost gone and I have enjoyed them while we've had them.  We also watched a movie together. Spider-Man: No Way Home was a really good movie that Keziah and I had seen, but Gideon and Zed had not. There was laughter in the beginning of the movie and tears at the end.
