Road Trip

My day started with an attempt at mowing some tall wet grass. I got through some of it before it was time to get ready for other things. The first other thing was going to church for the first time in a really long time. The family is going to be trying a few different ones to see what fits. Anyhow, after the service we had church folk coming up and introducing themselves and welcoming us. It took less than five minutes for me to be peopled out. Keziah and I headed out to the trails behind the church. She found a shady spot to sit and I took a ten minute walk by myself. It was wonderful. Other happy things:

  • Keziah, some friends, and I took a road trip to see the fabric resale store I wrote about a few days ago. On the way they talked about what their tarot card was today. I have the app on my phone too and looked at mine. I drew the Hermit, a pretty self explaining card. We had a good laugh reflecting at my not wanting to be with people earlier.
  • On the drive we stopped at a rest area that claimed to have an apple tree that had been planted by (or a descendant to a tree planted by) Johnny Appleseed.
The sign reads, "Do not pick apples from this tree.  It is directly linked to John Chapman who was known as Johnny Appleseed."

  • The fabric resale store, Swanson's Fabrics, was a cute shop with lots of things. Shelves of fabric, baskets and counters with yarn, buttons, sewing machines and other notions and things were delightfully arranged around the shop.

I love this pillow with the old gloves sewn on.

  • We ate at a burger place/ice cream stand.  They had homemade ice cream in interesting flavors like honey lavender and maple cream.  They also had a delicious beet veggie burger that hit the spot for me.  It wasn't as good as my youngest, Bel, makes, but it came in close.  I'm glad that restaurants don't mind serving burgers without the bun.

Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
