Nostalgia
Keziah and I spent most of the day out and about. We met some friends to look at a potential site for an upcoming event. This particular site I have been to many times, but most of those times were before I turned 18. These are only dim glimpses at vague memories but they are my happy things for today:
Sleeping in a lean to, in the woods, with a bunch of other girls. I’m sure there were giggles as well as fear of animals that might be by in the night. I have no horror stories from that, other than mosquitos. The lean tos are screened in now.
There is a large open area by the lake where we would sing by a fire at night. The sounds of “Kumbaya, My Lord,” echo across the water and my mind. I remember that there were stars too.
My best friend and I teamed up and competed in egg toss. If my memory serves me right, we won a few years in a row. That field where we played has not changed much.

Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
