Stone Arch Bridge

The first errand I had today was to drive to meet someone to give them some favors to embellish and put together for me. We had a nice short visit. She recently acquired a small loom and had no idea how to use it. Since it wasn't a style of loom I have used before, I loaned her some books to help out. That was my first visit with a friend today. Other happy things from today include:

  • When choosing the place to meet the friend I noticed a stone arch bridge on the map nearby. I took a short walk to it. The bridge was open to foot traffic only..

  • The afternoon was spent playing Minecaft with TF. This was a nice phone visit with a friend. We battled monsters and moned precious stones and had fun.
  • In the evening, Gideon went to visit a friend and the adults went to a bar to celebrate a person’s 21st birthday. It was loud, and my anxiety was real, but once a few people started talking directly to me the evening went much better. So more friends, some that I hadn't had the chance to talk with in a while. This gathering was our community looking out for and celebrating with a young person, in a responsible way (designated drivers and moderation). Other than the 21 year old, everyone else ranged in ages over 30 to at least 57 (I'm not sure if I was the oldest one there or not). It takes a village…

Snow Sounds

 When I don't work and my schedule adjusts to daytime, I often stay snuggled in bed doing things on my phone. This morning it was snowing outside. I can hear the cars go by. I can tell when the roads are wet. Right now (around 8 AM) I can tell that some snow is staying on the roads and under tires, at least in some spots. There is a muffled crunching sort of sound the tires make when rolling over snow. And yet there isn't. I realize that the crunching was a slower vehicle, probably on the side of the road, turning, or driveway. Most cars are traveling at a reasonable speed, the snow is most likely blowing to the sides, lightweight. The sound is still muffled slightly which tells me that the snow is falling.  Other happy things for today: Day 5: Today the A&S challenge is not an unfinished project.  I found my lucet so I decided to refresh my memory on how to do a lucet braid. Thankful Wednesday

It is the last day of August. I'm tired of the heat of summer and looking forward to September weather. I'm thankful for the seasons and the changes that they bring. Other things I am thankful for: When I let a supervisor at work know the job I was doing was making me feel ill, they switched where I was. Sometimes, packages coming at me fast along the rollers give me an upset stomach. Today I was at the fastest area and it didn't go well. So I'm thankful they moved me. There is a possibility that I will have more help with weaving. I'm very thankful for this. I finished the first pattern on the weaving, crossed fencing swords. I'm hopeful that at least some of the pieces will be ready before the event.  I'm thankful that I am remembering how to weave and some little tricks are coming back to me. ☮ I'm going to try to get back into the habit of listing what I am reading... Happy Birthday to Me

Working strange hours meant I did not get enough sleep last night. I woke up somewhere around three in the morning and couldn't fall back to sleep. The good news is that I should fall asleep easily once I've finished writing this. Other happy things from today: Keziah took me out for a mother-daughter breakfast for my birthday today. We ate and did some errands. It was nice to spend time with her.  In the afternoon my friend, Amy, and I went for a nice walk in the cold. The morning was sunny, but the winds picked up and flurries fell on our walk. It was a nice visit and the cold air was refreshing.  Bel called me to wish me a happy birthday and we got to talk for a little bit. So nice to hear from my youngest. They are in Maryland now and I don’t know when I’ll be able to see them again. Hopefully not too long.  The new laptop that Zed ordered for me arrived today!
