In NY

Taking out our dog, Aesop, for his first morning romp there were quite a few birds on an overgrown part of the property.  I saw a gold finch, mourning dove, and maybe a sparrow.  Later I also saw either a female cardinal or maybe a red tanager?  It was a flying flash of dull red.  Now that the summer is ending I want to be outside more.  Here are some other happy things from today:
-While driving to New York, Gideon and I played the alphabet game.  When we had trouble finding the letter J, Gideon started replacing letters in his sentences with J.  He made up words like JAmazon when we saw a truck from Amazon.  This continued for difficult to find letters.  My grandson is awesome.
-We drove through Concord, Massachusetts.  It brought back memories of Louisa May Alcott and her house that we visited when my children were young.  There is (or used to be) a literary tour that I would like to do someday.
-Due to various stops along the way, we arrived to set up our tent after dark.  Thankfully, some friends helped us get it set up.  We are on a bit of a slope, I don't think we will roll away in the night.  😉

Thank you for being part of my happy things.  Stay safe.
