Long Day is Long

Enough sleep was achieved for me to work the night, but they didn't need as many people as came in, so I went home. I thought about going to the studio to work on my class, but I stayed home instead. Doing schoolwork was short lived though because I fell asleep again for a nice nap. Later Zed tried to help with one of the assignments but neither of us can figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm grateful for his help. Other happy things for today:

  • Since I wasn't working, I went to archery practice. My highest score for the day was 49 points! This is not my highest ever (close), but certainly the highest in a long time.  Practice helps.



  • After archery, some friends and I went on a nice hike. The trails were new to us and were also used by ATVs. Thankfully not so many were out today that it was too loud or busy.

I'm not sure what this plant is.




  • In the evening my protege and I met up with friends at a bookstore/cafe to celebrate a birthday and listen to some blues. This is when I became super tired. Long days will do that. It was still a fun night.

    Your mystery plant might be a gentian of some sort (possibly soapwort gentian or bottle gentian)?

      Thank you! I wish I had taken more pictures to help identify it. It is quite possibly a gentian. Cool plant! :)

Snow Sounds

 When I don't work and my schedule adjusts to daytime, I often stay snuggled in bed doing things on my phone. This morning it was snowing outside. I can hear the cars go by. I can tell when the roads are wet. Right now (around 8 AM) I can tell that some snow is staying on the roads and under tires, at least in some spots. There is a muffled crunching sort of sound the tires make when rolling over snow. And yet there isn't. I realize that the crunching was a slower vehicle, probably on the side of the road, turning, or driveway. Most cars are traveling at a reasonable speed, the snow is most likely blowing to the sides, lightweight. The sound is still muffled slightly which tells me that the snow is falling.  Other happy things for today: Day 5: Today the A&S challenge is not an unfinished project.  I found my lucet so I decided to refresh my memory on how to do a lucet braid. Weaving Day

My grandson, Gideon, has been trying to learn magic tricks with cards. He struggles with the slight of hand, and knows it. I admire that he is trying. He also tries to invent new card games. Other happy things from today: My friend, Amy, had a craft afternoon at her house today for just a few people. Most of us had weaving projects. I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but made some good progress on my loom. It was also good to spend time with friends.  Later, at home the family had leftovers from Thanksgiving, including pie for dessert. The pies are almost gone and I have enjoyed them while we've had them.  We also watched a movie together. Spider-Man: No Way Home was a really good movie that Keziah and I had seen, but Gideon and Zed had not. There was laughter in the beginning of the movie and tears at the end.
