Thank You for Favors

Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. Other times the best thing is to go to the studio. I hadn't planned on going to the studio this afternoon. I really didn't have anything planned except getting to bed early. When Keziah asked if I wanted to go to the studio, I said yes.  I won't get to bed as early as I'd like. I did take a rough inventory of the favors that need to be worked on and was able to finish sewing two up. 




Ideally I will get all the favors that are started, finished, before the event we are having in June. Other things I am happy for today:

  • Keziah found some fabric and she is thinking about making me some garb; a twelfth century bliaut to be precise. I'm not sure how I feel about the color of the fabric. It seems to look okay next to my skin though.

  • Our studio is an attic space and so it has angled ceilings. Occasionally we hit our heads. It also serves as an easy place to provide support when a person loses balance while putting their shoes on. And so the ceiling has powers of both good and evil. Somehow this sounded much funnier in the moment.


  • At work we are sometimes given swag bucks (fake money) that we can spend on swag the company gets. Today I spent 30 swag bucks and got a cool bluetooth wrist speaker. I look forward to taking it outside to work in the yard.

It was AMAZING. Keziah, Bel, and I went to see a production of 1776 at the Loeb Theater. If you read my blog regularly, you may remember that we watch the movie 1776 every Fourth of July.  Keziah, me, and Bel. The curtain. There was a display to learn more about the production. The actors in this production were all women or LGBTQ+. It worked beautifully. There were only a few changes made from what I consider the original. One of those was the addition of part of a letter that Abigail Adams wrote asking that women have the same rights as men. The musical left me overwhelmed with emotions. I wasn't quite sobbing, almost. Other  happy  things from today include: Driving through a Boston suburb and seeing turkeys walking on the sidewalks around store fronts on the way to see  1776 . First ever INTERNATIONAL SUPPLY CHAIN PROFESSIONALS DAY

 This year I haven't yet been as good of a steward to the property as last year.  The lawns aren't getting mowed as much, the garden is mostly nonexistent, and I haven't been walking the trails so there really are no trails.  This is me hoping that I will make the time to get outside more to make the yard a place to want to be again.  Here are some happy things from today: I made the trek through the long grass to the wildlife camera.  It had been long enough that I think the SD card was full.  The last clip was from May 20th.  There were only a few that actually had some animals in them and not just the wind blowing.  A few had deer and one a groundhog munching on the grass.  I only briefly went through the clips, it was neat watching as the landscape got more and more green. Listless

Today was all about the studio. We packed more things into the van and brought them there. We sorted through a bunch of the boxes and threw away things that were trash or no longer serve a purpose for us. I found some cool things that I should have taken pictures of like tiny hand sewing machines and old wooden spools of thread.  I only photographed the things I'm getting rid of since I'm keeping track of those things for Lent. We ended up with four empty boxes of things put away. Things I got rid of. I'm counting these as five of the seven things for the week.   If a few hours sorting craft supplies wasn't enough to count towards my 15 minutes of A&S for the challenge, I watched a few videos on how to make jewelry with polymer clay. So day 85 is done and I only have 15 more days to complete the challenge. This challenge has been wonderful for getting my brain working on a more creative level.
