A Road Changed

Sometimes, by chance, a person stumbles along and finds something beautiful. Sometimes a person seeks for something beautiful. Today I did both. In my quest for 10,000 steps a day I randomly chose to walk some of the rail trail near Derry, NH. I've been on it before and so expected some flowers and maybe some wildlife. These things I found and are some of my happy things for today.



What I didn't expect to find was a mural about the history of flight and the Space Race. It was wonderful to notice, though I couldn't take the time to look over the entire thing with as much attention as I would have liked.


 
The other thing I stumbled upon was a small section that has been painted with Robert Frost's poem, "The Road Not Taken". It included artwork that is still in process. 



This was not where I had planned to walk today; it was a sudden decision that I am glad I made. The walk including some things that were naturally beautiful and some that were purposely placed there for our appreciation helped me feel inspired.

The poles at the road intersections were painted
to look like white birch trees.

This lovely thing is a bike repair station.
It is at the end of the trail near the center of town.
If I ever win the lottery...

 It was a working day so I am going to try to keep this short.  The other day I downloaded the videos from the wildlife camera out back.  I had the chance to watch them today and have uploaded four of them to my YouTube channel.  They will be released today, January 18, 2022 at 8:00 PM.  That said, here are my happy things for today: There were a bunch of videos because I hadn't backed them up recently.  The first one I chose has a lovely eight point  buck .  Today I learned that some parts of the country count all the points on the antlers and some count the points on only one side.   The second video has at least one  doe .  I think it is a pair of does. One night a  fox  came through and visited. Sheep Making

Yesterday's activities left me with very little energy this morning. To be fair, I also wasn't able to stay awake when I wrote yesterday's blog and was up and down most of the night trying to finish it. Whatever the reason, energy was lacking today. Eventually I did pull myself out of bed and was occasionally productive. Here are some happy things from today: Since I knew I would have a hard time getting my step count I started walking to the department store. I left about 45 minutes before Keziah did and she picked me up on her way to the store. Between the walk and department store I had around 8500 steps by lunch time. There was only a little pacing in the evening for me to make my 10,000 step-a-day goal. Along the road I kept seeing a flower. 1776

It was AMAZING. Keziah, Bel, and I went to see a production of 1776 at the Loeb Theater. If you read my blog regularly, you may remember that we watch the movie 1776 every Fourth of July.  Keziah, me, and Bel. The curtain. There was a display to learn more about the production. The actors in this production were all women or LGBTQ+. It worked beautifully. There were only a few changes made from what I consider the original. One of those was the addition of part of a letter that Abigail Adams wrote asking that women have the same rights as men. The musical left me overwhelmed with emotions. I wasn't quite sobbing, almost. Other  happy  things from today include: Driving through a Boston suburb and seeing turkeys walking on the sidewalks around store fronts on the way to see  1776 .
