Halloween

Happy Halloween! It is a beautiful day here and I hope that the trick or treat people are able to make the most of it. I plan to be sleeping. Some happy things from today:

  • Since walking to ceramics was out of the question today (no ride home), I went for a short walk before class. It hadn't warmed up much yet, but the sun was showing the promise of the rising temperatures. 


  • In ceramics class we learned glazing. I had a rundown of glazing a week or two ago when Kiaya and I stayed after. I actually put glaze on two of my pieces today. They don't look like much now, but that should improve once they are fired. 


  •  Outside of class there are some really tall yellow flowers that according to Lens is a sawtooth sunflower. I'm trying to enjoy all the bits of color I can. Sooner than I want, everything will be white and shades of gray.

Deer, Deer...

 It was a working day so I am going to try to keep this short.  The other day I downloaded the videos from the wildlife camera out back.  I had the chance to watch them today and have uploaded four of them to my YouTube channel.  They will be released today, January 18, 2022 at 8:00 PM.  That said, here are my happy things for today: There were a bunch of videos because I hadn't backed them up recently.  The first one I chose has a lovely eight point  buck .  Today I learned that some parts of the country count all the points on the antlers and some count the points on only one side.   The second video has at least one  doe .  I think it is a pair of does. One night a  fox  came through and visited. The last one that I chose to publish on YouTube has some anxiety.  Some deer are being chased by what seems to be a  coyote .  Only a chase on the video, no capture.  Exciting! Placebo Effect? -kinda long

 It was 2016 when I first tried to blog every day about something I was happy for.  If my tired mind is mathing correctly, that makes this the seventh year.  The reason I started was an attempt at reducing my depression.  It hasn't been a cure.  Getting my step count in every day for the last sixteen-ish months, and thus more exercise, also hasn't been a cure.  That said, the last... almost two years... have been rough on the world during the pandemic.  In the past I have tried a few anti-depression medications and not had success.  There have been weird side-effects including deepening the depression.  Then I don't want to try any new meds for a few years.  It was time to try again though.  The doctor prescribed a different medication and yesterday I took the first dose.   Today I couldn't find the charger for my FitBit.  Instead of tearing through my room leaving nothing but destruction in my path, I went through things, cleaning and organizing as I went.  At some poi

Happy Hanukkah

There are three games I try to play every day: Wordle , Chrono , and Sedecordle . I usually play them during breaks at work or when I am pacing at home.  In Sedecordle the player is given 21 turns to figure out 16 five letter words. I have three words that I use every game to start off which means I have only two more things that I can get wrong before losing. Today was one of the rare days that one of my starter words was a right answer. Other happy things from today: Tomorrow is my birthday so today we went out for breakfast to celebrate. It was a lot of fun and I'm grateful to the family for joining me in the celebration. This afternoon I joined Keziah and a friend at the studio and tried to help Keziah pattern a dress. It is something I am new at but was happy to help. There were friends over for dinner. One brought her menorah and lit the first candle for the first day of Hanukkah.  I finished watching The Santa Clause .  I plan to watch the rest of that series during t
