Road Trip

Image
My day started with an attempt at mowing some tall wet grass. I got through some of it before it was time to get ready for other things. The first other thing was going to church for the first time in a really long time. The family is going to be trying a few different ones to see what fits. Anyhow, after the service we had church folk coming up and introducing themselves and welcoming us. It took less than five minutes for me to be peopled out. Keziah and I headed out to the trails behind the church. She found a shady spot to sit and I took a ten minute walk by myself. It was wonderful. Other happy things: Keziah, some friends, and I took a road trip to see the fabric resale store I wrote about a few days ago. On the way they talked about what their tarot card was today. I have the app on my phone too and looked at mine. I drew the Hermit, a pretty self explaining card. We had a good laugh reflecting at my not wanting to be with people earlier. On the drive we stopped ...

It Was a Good Day

Image
The family and a friend all went to the local Farmer's Market this morning. Aesop, our dog, went too. There is also a new restaurant that they have wanted to try so we took two cars and traveled in teams. Keziah, our friend, and I were one team, Gideon and Zed the other. The first part of the time Gideon and Zed walked the market with Aesop and the rest of us went to the new restaurant. The second part they went to the restaurant and we had Aesop. There tend to be a lot of dogs at the Farmer's Market.  We divided and conquered!  Here are some happy things from today: The new restaurant has some gluten free options and so I got some avocado toast that had vegan cream cheese, some greens and was tasty. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered.  Instead of getting the customer name or using numbers for ordering, customers were given a celebrity such as Elizabeth Taylor or Lupita Nyong'o that was called out when the order was ready.  It was a fun atmosphere. The bathro...

Flowers

Image
Friday!  I could just have that as my happy thing and be done.  Since I don't work on Friday I took the dog for a walk to help me get my steps.  Along the walk I noticed, not for the first time, some flowers that are pretty.  This time I took a picture and learned that they are a variety of dianthus.  There is still more for me to learn about them but it may be something else to plant in the triangle part of the driveway. Other happy things from today: I chose to wear pink today in hopes that it would help me have a good day.  It wasn't a horrible day, so I'm calling that a win.  Pink heart socks! It was Minecraft night but I was again too tired to play.  TF and I did get into the game for a little bit so she could show me what she has been working on.  She made a big Mayan style pyramid.  It looks really cool.  We still have to figure out what to put on the inside.    ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Pra...

Thursday

Image
Thursdays are my days of exhaustion. This is not to say that there are no other days that I am tired, but Thursdays are rough as I switch from working nights to sleeping nights. Today I was good and had a nap. Other happy things from today: There is a lot of white clover around the property. I’m hoping it is keeping the bees happy too. Keziah and I took a Zoom workshop about fabric resales. I'm not sure where this will take us, but it is a start towards something. Outside tonight the crescent moon hung low and orange in the sky. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Happy June and Pride Month

It rained off and on last night and is raining as I write this. The plants need this. When I take my breaks at work I go out to my car to be alone. If Covid didn't exist, I wouldn't do that. If Covid didn't exist, I'm not sure I would have left my job as a paraeducator. Anyhow, during each break there was evidence of rain, but it wasn't raining. That is something I am happy for, that I stayed dry when I went outside for breaks. Other happy things include: The rose bush is showing signs of blossoming very soon. At least one bud is starting to open and others are not far behind. The cool pre-rain air was refreshing and helped me feel more awake for the drive home from work with a window down.  That crisp, clean smell before a rain can still be invigorating, even since Covid.  😊 ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. May's End

Image
Very little sleep last night so here are some happy things from today: Coming home from work this spring has been nice since I planted so many things in the triangle part of the driveway last fall. Today there are irises.  This sparked me to look where I thinned the irises from last year and they are also looking quite lovely. There are still so many that I should thin more in the fall. I am hopeful for more flowers next year. The rhododendron is pretty much in full bloom now. Keziah and I went to the studio and she pinned the hem on my Viking dress. I should be able to get it done in the next few days. Well, unless I decide to embellish it. ☮ Currently reading: Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko. Memorial Day

Image
The walk I was planning on today was canceled so I instead walked with my friend, Amy. We met at Livingston Park and walked about three miles. Here are some other happy things from today: There is a plant that is often part of a wooded area's carpet. I knew it flowered and was happy to see it that way and be able to identify it easier. It seems to be a Canada mayflower. The stream that goes through the pond and park seemed happy. The sun sparkling off the water adding light to a partially shaded area. We were all in the living room and strange rustle and thunk sounds came from the kitchen. When I checked to see what was going on I found Nanni, our gray tabby, apparently trying to close herself into a box! ☮ Currently reading:  Pocketful of Miracles: Prayer, Meditations, and Affirmations to Nurture Your Spirit Every Day of the Year , Joan Borysenko.
